This is absolutely great for making cold connections on jewelry! The punches are heat treated and by using the screw action, you can create very clean holes in soft metals up to 20 gauge in thickness. All without deforming the metal. Attach the adjustable guide plate to the bottom of the punch, and you can also create multiple pieces with holes at the exact location that you need on each piece. The hole sizes are 18 gauge (1.1mm), 16 gauge (1.4mm), 14 gauge(1.7mm), and 12 gauge (2.15mm). There is also a removable and/or adjustable depth tray held in place by two thumbscrews. This tray has 1/4 inch markings and can be moved out to a maximum of approximately 1-5/8" from the punches. The punches are turned by an Allen wrench that is included. There is even a very handy magnet on the side of the frame to keep the Allen wrench right at hand.
