Description: DP-26- Very nice, unusually-colored Dinosaur Specimen bone. Every side shows a different color combination and texture. This piece really stands out! Natural Bone, not treated. Shown wet and dry. Weight: 4 Pounds Six Ounces. Front- striated tan with a dark curved band along the left edge.5 1/2 to Six inches TALL X Three inches wide/Top; 5 1/2 inches wide for most of this side; 4 1/2 Wide/Bottom. Back-Dark brown with flecks of white; rust-orange patch near top. Rough irregular texture. Four inches Tall / Left edge; 6 1/2 inches Tall/middle; Five inches Tall Right Edge. Left Side- Dark Brown, tan, rust with a dark band along left edge. 5 1/2 Tall X Two inches wide/top to 3 3/4 wide through middle to bottom. Right Side- Is curved and the narrowest side with off white, tan and darker brown in some areas. Eight inches tall/curved measurement X about 2 1/2 inches wide. Bottom- is triangular shaped and has some a large rust-colored patch that turns orange when wet. It shows some defined cell structure on this side, and it is possible it could yield some slabs if cut - but I am NOT promising this! White and tan agate and some crystal cells showing too. Left and right angles 3 inches, curved edge 4 1/2 inches. Top- larger tan colored raised agate with some dark brown and a diamond shaped patch of orange. Dinosaurs first appeared at the end of the Middle Triassic or in early Late Triassic time, approximately 230 million years ago. The primitive dinosaurs of the Triassic were neither as abundant nor as varied as they would become in Jurassic and Cretaceous times. The fluvial (stream-deposited) sediments of the Morrison Formation dominated the Upper Jurassic landscape of eastern Utah. Originating approximately 150 million years ago as floodplain deposits, the Morrison Formation is exposed throughout the Colorado Plateau, including Colorado, Wyoming, eastern Utah, northern New Mexico, parts of Montana and South Dakota, and the panhandle of Oklahoma.
