She then spent time learning languages by moving to Spain, England and Italy. Her first teaching position was in Zuoz in the Engadin. Shortly after she moved to Zürich to teach kindergarten teachers. While there she decided to write a children's book herself. Alois Carigiet (30 August 1902 – 1 August 1985) was a Swiss graphic designer, painter and illustrator. In 1966 he received the inaugural Hans Christian Andersen Medal for children's illustrators.
