Raymond's Jungle Jim as header strip, "Little King" on back, broadsheet around 20 1/2" by 15 1/4". Nice VG+ (as are pretty much all our Flash Gordon pages which are from a high quality collection) rare for these FG early pages usually listed with either color, printing or paper either fragile or not high quality, that is when listed at all Lovely sharp bright complete, supple, nice margins, nicks at edges we trimmed a bit to neaten up, panels all complete, off white with light age toning, faintest hint of crease line. Paper, Color, Printing all VG or better so a rare & very collectable page This early page rare.. most avid collectors won't sell & the rest are mainly in institution collections Alex Raymond's, Flash Gordon in the first 5 years 1934-38 was a work of art, romantic & sensuous, Raymond ranking with Allan St John & Joseph Clement Coll as the greatest of fluid line action illustrators. In the first 1934 brilliant rare pages Raymond was still a tad constrained because of the small panel format however page by page his genius flourished (scans) & the art exploded. For new collectors these are nothing like the later Raymond Flash Gordon's from 1939 into the 1940's, where the panels are stiff set pieces, still with some striking art work but no dynamic line, he and his assistants were merely illustrators of captions at this point. The glory of Raymond's work is in the early years 1934/38, mid 1934/1935/36 hitting a peak.
