Description: Sorry , hard to photograph the heavy engraving on this decanter. weight is just under 3 pounds. Roughly 10 inch X 7 1/2 inch. I have NO documentation to back up this claim, wish I did. I bought this from a Las Vegas casino collector, who was born & raised in Las Vegas. Who's family's lawyer was Lou Weiner jr. Howard got this directly from Lou in the 1980's. So who's Lou Weiner jr. ?? only a top lawyer in las Vegas from 1941 - 1996 , 55 years !!! Some of Lou's clients to include (just naming a few); Frank Sinatra, Howard Hughes, Kirk Kerkorian, Redd Foxx, and of course , Benjamin Siegel !!! Lou got this decanter as a gift from Mr. Siegel around the time of the opening of the Flamingo hotel & casino , Dec. 1946. I assume he had others also made for other close "friends" at the time But, maybe this is "one of a kind". I also own 4 of the Flamingo bird statues given out by Mr. Siegel on opening night to guests (only 150 were made). Siegel's L.V. lawyer, Lou Weiner jr. ; born on March 28, 1915 in Pittsburg, Penn. Family moved to L.V. in 1931. His father opened a tailor shop on Main street. He graduated L.V. high school in 1932, then attended university of Nevada, Reno & the university of California Berkeley school of law. When admitted to the Clark County bar association, there were only 16 other lawyers in Las Vegas. Started practicing law in the city in 1941 & continued to do so for 55 years. retired in 1996 and passed away in Feb. 1996. Between the late 1940's - 1970's ,he represented almost every major Las Vegas hotel for some amount of time. Mr. Wiener jr. owned several casinos in down town Las Vegas & on the strip, & he controlled ALL slot machine operations at the McCarran international airport for nearly 20 Years. In the 1970's & 1980's , he became involved in local radio & television broadcasting companies; Broadcast Association and Sunbelt Broadcasting. Remember Mr. Siegel had "legal issues" from the start with building the Flamingo & him and Mr. Wiener jr. were both Jewish , which didn't hurt. That's the story and the history. any questions or more photos ?? extra insurance will be added of course. A real piece of history here !! Rarer than a pair of dice , a casino chip , or postcard. even buying a slot machine that was used there isn't hard to find or buy.
