About this stamp: In 1999, to celebrate the millennium, the United States Postal Service sponsored a children’s stamp design contest called “Stampin’ the Future.” The four winning stamps were in 2000 and are all based on imaginative space themes. This stamp called Space Figures was designed by Zachary Canter. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp has been designated as Scott Number 3414.
