Description: On Current Affairs in Iraq; The Revolution and Woman in Iraq; On History, Heritage and Religion; On Iraq and International Politics; The Revolution and the Young by Saddam Hussein Five rare English-language books by the Iraqi leader Baghdad, Iraq: Translation & Foreign Languages Publishing House, 1981. A collection of five books. First English-language editions of each. Bound in publisher's gray boards with gilt lettering. Near Fine with slight lean to spine, slightly musty smell, light wear to dust jackets. The musings of infamous Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein on a variety of subjects, outlining his philosophy and the politics of his Ba'ath Party-- a blend of nationalism, socialism, pan-Arabism, and anti-imperialism. These matching volumes, all in English, all published in the same year during the Iran-Iraq War, are extremely uncommon in commerce, part of what must have been a brief, not-so-successful campaign to shore up support in the Anglophone world. The author bio on the front flap has his photo and simply states, "Mr. Saddam Hussein President of Republic of Iraq." Few Western readers know that Hussein was a prolific author, publishing four novels and writing poetry throughout his life.
