Description: Click here for our other RX-7 items This fast reacting air temp sensor threads into the stock location of the FD RX-7 upper intake manifold and has an open element design so that it reports temp changes to the ECU as quickly as possible. The factory air temp sensor on the 93-02 RX-7 is a solid metal design and reacts very very slowly. The factory sensor also suffers from heat soak due to its closed design, which means that after you drive and park the car, the sensor gets very hot as the engine sits there baking, and it takes a very long time for the factory sensor to report the temp changes as you start to drive again. If you have a PowerFC or standalone computer and this new sensor, you will be able to see the temp changes much faster than before. If you have this new fast sensor and water/meth injection, you will see the intake temps drop immediately after the injection engages (a good way to verify your injection is working well). The factory sensor would not report these changes quickly, and thus, your ECU would have the wrong temperature data. With the fast reacting sensor, I was able to tell that my water injection kit had a clogged nozzle and was not spraying. My intake temps were no longer dropping when boost came on and I was able to see that. I then cleaned my nozzle and all was well. Temps dropped with boost again. The fast sensor helped me diagnose that issue when I would not have known otherwise. This sensor/harness work on every ECU. Factory ECU, PowerFC, Haltech, etc. The sensor comes with a plug-n-play harness that simply plugs into the factory harness connector and then onto the new sensor without hassle. The new sensor connector is a quick disconnect should you need to remove the intake manifold and want to unplug the sensor easily.
