Fisher r200 tube Tuner FM AM Multiplex Stereo 1962

Description: Fisher r200 tube Tuner FM AM. Here’s one of the cleaner fisher r200 tuner I’ve seen on here. The front plate is really nice, only minor dirt smudging from use. Nice lettering and glass - which is dusty from the inside. Lights seem to all work. The aluminum board has some stains but is in pretty good condition for a semi-covered unit. Original cord. It seems to work on FM stations, but where we live is a little difficult to get so not as clean as the mr77. Sometimes on FM Stereo it will get a little finicky so I’ll put it on the FM (mono?) clicker and it sounds perfect. This has features which do help dial in the stations - local/normal, wide/sharp, muting and filter. Some make a big change, others don’t as much. It is difficult to know if this is working at its optimum, seeing as it’s using 60 year old parts. I will try to pop the bottom to get a better idea if it’s all original… I’m sure it a strategic recap could help bring it to specs, however it is a sweet sounding unit as it is. I was surprised how easily it tuned in to the local 91.1 station, which even our newer car radio has a difficult time picking up. There is a very thin metal screen cover, no wood. It is nice protection but it is prone to flex easily, so it’s not perfectly straight. The obvious tubes are all FISHER branded, but I didn’t pop the covers off the protected ones. No tubes were individually tested. AM worked briefly, however the FM was used for hours daily. There was a slight drift as it warmed up but not anything radical. I am only selling this to fund other stuff. I’m not really motivated to sell it. We’ve got a beater McIntosh mr77 which is a great sounding unit, and a beater Sansui tu-717 and some Scott tube tuners as well as a bunch of receivers… This is not being sold cause it has issues, it’s actually one of the nicer units, and usually I’ll sell my good stuff to not have to worry about caring for it. With kids and 5 dogs sometimes it’s just easier that way… ***a few knob caps are missing. I ordered replacements and they should be here soon. They will be included. This is sold as is shown.
