Passed away on April 26, 1969 Ueshiba/Kisshomaru Born in 1921 as the third son of Aikido founder Ueshiba Morihei. Graduated from Waseda University's School of Political Science and Economics in 1946. In 1969, he succeeded to the position of second Aikido master. He is known for his great contributions in spreading Aikido to the world, with 1.6 million members in 90 countries, and was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon and the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Third Class.
