For reference- I found an old invoice online from Lenoir 14 Rue Royal Paris whose heading indicates that Lenoir was a supplier of luxury goods to among others : the King of Sweden, Duke of Orleans and the King and Queen of Portugal- photo of this old invoice is shown in the listing. I can just imagine a very dapper gentleman in Paris once used this handsome silver box daily for his snuff as he made his way along the Boulevard to the cafe for a coffee and to read his daily newspaper.
