Description: FEVER IN THE EARTH This book tells the epic story of the first time oil was discovered in Texas. The oilfield was named Spindletop in what is now Beaumont, Texas. The cover of the paperback is torn at the top left corner but could be taped discreetly if necessary. The book itself is still in good condition with pages that look as though they were hardly read. TALES FROM MOONSHINE VALLEY This interesting and entertaining book is a collection of articles written by Sam Woolford (and collected and edited by Crickett Cannon Waldroup for this book) while writing a column for The Light (which later became The San Antonio Light). There is no longer a dust jacket, and the spine of the book is fragile, but the pages are bright and clean and hardly look read. CALEB PETTINGILL U.S.N. This vintage 1956 hardcover first edition is still in very good condition although there is no longer a dust jacket. The book tells the story of a fictional Civil War commander in the Union Navy whose character is said to be based on the fictional character Horatio Hornblower. This lot of three books will be sold and shipped together. The package will be shipped free of charge with USPS Media Mail.
