Dating from the mid 20thC, hand enhanced Famille Rose Medallion polychrome plate marked on the back as illustrated... in Portuguese, "Fabricado em Macau" (Manufactured in Macau) Portugal had a presence for centuries in Macau and had been influential in developing the export of porcelain goods prior to Macau becoming part of Communist China. As a result, Portuguese taste in ceramics leans towards the oriental, and it is quite common to find this type of hand painted wares used as decoration in most Portuguese homes. This plate probably dates from the 1950s/60s. Measuring 20cm (8") in diameter, it has survived free of chips, cracks or abrasions.
