The author, Antonia Frederick Futterer (1871-1951), was an Australian who made a pact with God to preach the Bible after nearly dying of appendicitis, and then traveled to the United States to do missionary work, developed the Eye-ographic Bible Atlas, and then in 1924 founded the Bible Knowledge Society in Los Angeles. In 1926 he traveled to the Holy Land in search of the Ark of the Covenant. He brought numerous finds from the Holy Land to California, where they still reside at the Holyland Exhibition in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.
