The board measures about: 23 1/8" long with an additional inch for the hanging eye screw hook x 12 3/4" wide x 1 1/2" deep with medium light wood tone making it a perfect fit for any laundry room. This original and authentic washboard is unsigned and unbranded, but its character and history speak for themselves. It has been in the same family since new and each member of the family have been non-smoking and the home has always been indoor pet free. Way back in the day, many decades ago, there were some farm pets kept outdoors (a horse-transportation, cow-for milk and some chickens-for eggs). Making this a healthy and allergy free choice for your home. This belonged to my grandmother Grace, who was born in the late 1800's and would hang it to drip dry after each use. She lived her entire life without any indoor plumbing at all or a telephone, television or car. She had a dry sink in the kitchen and got her water from a well in the front yard. She had a out house in the back yard. She never had a bathtub. She would stand at the old wash stand and "sponge bathe" with a pitcher and bowl. She owned a couple of wash boards and took in laundry from neighbors to earn her money for 10 cents a load, including ironing with a cast iron dry flat iron and folding. She worked until her fingers literally would bleed and she could not get the clothes clean without getting blood on them anymore. Really makes you glad for today's conveniences!
