Description: This unit has a unique embossed back stamp that is from the 1957 pre-production run. There are two small dots above the "C" and the "O" of Corning. Those dots are indicative of the 1957 pre-production run. These dots were a unique feature of the pre-production pieces and were not present in the 1958 first production run. Other noted differences from the First Year run, are, 1: the darker shade of blue, 2: the slight differences in some of the leaf designs (some more elongated, others more compressed). And 3: most uniquely, the pre-production unit has a slightly lower rim profile than the first and subsequent runs. The rim is about 1/8" lower (see photo with standard production unit). Clearly this is an exceptionally collectible item as it represents the beginning of a special innovation in American culinary history. This piece will be the centerpiece of any collection. It doesn't get much rarer than this. The unit is in excellent condition with only minor use marks on the bottom. No chips, no fading. Shipping inside the United States is included.
