Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE CASE Tested XX 1920-1940, 5265 SAB, Folding Hunter; Stag. Tested Frame. Closed-C shield; pinned shield; high pull; brass liners. Saber-grind blade. Mirror finish, thanks to professional cleaning. Pattern number not marked on tang. Primary blade is a bit short (last 2 photos). Secondary blade sits low in the frame. Secondary blade is also mirror-like (professionally cleaned). Beautiful dark, deeply furrowed stag on both sides with no shaving of stag at ends (excellent fit/finish). The pinned shield is an old shield (closed C). An oval shield with closed C and block letters was used on early Tested-Era knives (1920 - 1940). Hairline crack on back middle pin (tight hairline; see closeups). FREE SHIPPING. SUPER WORKMANSHIP; GREAT OLD KNIFE. Made by W.R. CASE & SONS CUTLERY (BRADFORD, PENNSYLVANIA).Vintage CASE Pattern 5265 SAB - STAG Folding Hunter pocket knife.Tang stamp is "CASE TESTED XX": 1920-1940.This is an early Tested-era knife with a high-pull, clip blade.Knife is 5-1/4" long (closed) with brass liners. The blade steel is carbon steel. Both blades have a mirror finish; were professionally cleaned.Primary blade is a bit short (see last 2 photos). There is an attractive swedge along the blade spine (old-timey workmanship).Nickel-silver oval, pinned CASE SHIELD with closed-C (old shield of that era).Good snap on each blade, but not alligator strong; no left/right play; barely gives if you tug on the primary blade (very minor).Handles are deeply furrowed stag with great color and texture. The back especially is cool, with a high ridge along the middle of the handle. Color is beautiful amber (aged stag). There is a single hairline crack at the front, middle pin. The front has a tight hairline that doesn't reach the pin, and probably is natural to the stag. Pin cracks are VERY common in these knives, because the pins were placed close to the handle margins.Handles have no other cracks, no chips, and no other issues.Knife was used and sharpened, then professionally cleaned by someone long ago - not me (minor sharpening loss); each blade has a mirror finish.Minor handling marks (some of the lines in photos are from me wiping blades with an oily cloth). Among my favorite knives, especially with this aged stag. Well-made old knife. No box. Props used in these photographs are not included in the sale. I have not cleaned, buffed, or otherwise modified this knife. I do not clean knives, as per request from collectors. See photos for details. No surprises; if I make any mistakes I will refund you. ************ NOTE: FREE SHIPPING in a solid box with tracking information. I only ship in boxes to ensure safe delivery of vintage items.
