Description: An extraordinary find! This rare 10 piece set of six vessels, two lids and two inserts, is in a beautiful peony design accented with gold. The stunning large pitcher is 13" high at its handle. The matching washbasin is 15 3/4 wide. It bears the mark of the West End Pottery Company. The medium pitcher is 8 inches high at the handle and is also marked West End Pottery Company. Powder dish (soap dish, hair retainer?) has both upper and lower inserts. The bowl is 5 inches wide, height with lid 5 1/2 inches. There is a chip on the edge of bowl which is not visible when insert and/or lid is in place. It is marked West End Pottery Company. The Chamber pot is 10 inches wide with bowl handle and 9 in high with lid handle. It has a slightly scalloped base that has a large chip on the bottom that is not visible when it is upright. It has a faint mark of Dresden Semi-Porcelain. The vase is also marked Dresden Semi-Porcelain. It has a small fissure on bottom, which does not go through to the interior. It measures 4 inches wide and 5 inches high. All pieces were made in East Liverpool, Ohio during its heyday as America's "Crockery City". East Liverpool was the center of America's ceramic industry from 1870 to 1930. West End Pottery company was in business from 1893 to 1938. Dresden Pottery Works on Dresden Street, East Liverpool, was in business from 1912-1914 and again from 1925 to 1927. The intricate gold trim adds a touch of elegance to this antique set, which dates back to the early 1900s. It is a wonderful condition for its age and years of use.
