This rustic scene is presented as a Depression-era advertisement for Progress Select Beer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Three Black men are playing poker, with the younger pair apparently taking advantage of the older gentleman through sleight of hand. "Two Pluck One" references a historic card game, in addition to the action of pulling a card from between the toes. Papered walls, tattered curtains, a haphazard table, and unfinished floors reflect impoverished circumstances that were common among African-American communities at the time. Progress opened in 1933, the first legal brewery in Oklahoma after the repeal of Prohibition. It was sold to Lone Star Brewery in 1959.
