Item description:Orientalist painting, oil on canvas, depicting an Egyptian landscape with an Arab praying with a camel and pyramids in the background. Signed by the artist Eugène Alexis Girardet on the lower right, an important French painter famous for his Orientalist paintings. Note, in particular, the artist's skill in knowing how to render the strong brightness of the Egyptian sun, which is visible especially on the closest pyramid and on the ground where the Arab is praying. The painting can be dated towards the end of the 19th century and the excellent patina, especially on the back, confirms our dating.Useful information for evaluating the object:Immediately below this description, we have placed the artist's four highest auction results found on Art Price, with a maximum peak of over 239,000 euros. Then we put another painting, much larger and with a more beautiful and elaborate frame, but very similar in the subject depicted to ours, sold for a good €130,000, excluding the 25-30% auction fee. We then put the photos of other paintings, all similar and smaller than ours, quoted or sold from a minimum of €2,300 up to €8,500 for paintings of just 13.5x18 cm, a price to which the auction fee must always be added. This is to give an idea of both the major and minor results achieved by the artist for similar paintings. Finally we put the artist's registered signature, which is identical to the one on our painting, both in color and position and calligraphy.Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:Eugène Alexis Girardet (1853 - 1907) was a French orientalist painter of Swiss origin. In 1898, he visited Egypt and Palestine, producing many works depicting the life of desert nomads. Unlike other orientalists, he never produced harem scenes. Upon returning to France, he became a teacher at the Académie Julian. He exhibited regularly at the Salon and with the Société des Peintres Orientalistes Français (of which he was a founding member), with major exhibitions at the Exposition Universelle (1900), where he won a gold medal, and the Exposition Coloniale de Marseille of 1906. He also exhibited at the Glaspalast in Monaco. He was buried at Père-Lachaise Cemetery. In addition to several museums in France, his works can be seen at the Dahesh Museum of Art and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Algiers, as well as museums in Switzerland and New York City. ENTER OUR EBAY SHOP.PORCELAINS, CERAMICS, TERRACOTTE, BRONZE, PAINTINGS, FURNITURE, GLASS AND MUCH MORE AS, FOR EXAMPLE: OUR COMMERCIAL POLICYAware of operating in the eBay market, our prices are often lower than the real value of the object, as often documented in our descriptions, and also lower than the prices at which very similar objects are offered on other online art sales platforms and antiques. At the same time, eBay reciprocates with the possibility of selling a high quantity of objects, so our commercial policy is to earn little for the single object, but sell a lot and therefore earn on the quantity. In fact, the asking price is always as low as possible, considering how much the item was paid for and the eBay commissions (for the sale, payment and any currency exchange: from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 21% , according to the country in which the advertisement was made). For each object there may be multiple advertisements in different countries: USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, etc. Any price differences are due only to changes in the exchange rate of the various currencies between when we made the advertisement and when you see it. SHIPPING WORLDWIDE - RETURN ALWAYS ACCEPTEDThe cost of packaging is also calculated in the shipping cost, and everything has increased by 19% because both ebay and paypal also take fees on the shipping cost. OUR SHIPMENTS:.Our shipments cost a little more than the average, but they are all shipments with professional packaging. Double box with a lot of bubble wrap around the object and a lot of soft material in the large cavities on all sides between the two boxes. This means that the package is much larger and heavier and therefore the cost of shipping increases, not to mention all the work necessary to carry out a similar packaging and the cost of the various materials used.
