The Pitomba produces an abundance of bright orange-yellow aromatic, cherrylike fruit with soft, melting, juicy flesh with a highly aromatic slightly acid, sweet flavor. They are good eaten fresh or made into jelly and preserves. Taste comparable to an apricot. Planting: Trees grow readily over a wide variety of soils, but have less micronutrient problems under acidic conditions.The pitomba is an attractive, small tree, slow growing, suitable as a dwarf fruit tree.Because of its slow growth habit, it makes an excellent container plant!!!
