Description: Estes Park Colorado~Elkhorn Avenue & Main Street~Coca Cola Sign ~Vtg Postcard Estes Park is, of course, famous for being the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. More than 200 storefronts line the avenues of downtown Estes Park. Following the Lawn Lake Dam's failure in 1982, much of downtown Estes Park was damaged by sudden flooding. Subsequently, the downtown area now showcases a mix of modern architecture alongside rustic, timber-framed buildings harkening back to the homesteading era. Sanborn Souvenir Co, Denver Colorado 1920s-1970sHarold Sanborn started the Sanborn Souvenir Company out of downtown Denver in the 1920s. For the next 40 years, the commercial photographer traveled throughout Colorado and Wyoming, taking pictures of local places of note, anything he thought might make a marketable postcard. Thomas Dexter Press 1934-1977 West Nyack, NY. 81050-B dated 1964: Thomas A. Dexter opened his first printshop in Park Ridge, NJ in 1920. He moved to Pearl River, NY eight years later, and by the 1930’s he was producing postcards, mostly linens but also black & white and hand colored cards covering a wide variety of subjects. Although an early pioneer of natural color images, the firms output seems to have only turned exclusively to photochromes after they moved to West Nyack, NY around 1952 when their old shop grew too small. Most of the photochromes printed by Dexter Press bore the words Genuine Natural Color. Please review the photos carefully for condition and detail. Normal wear associated with an old postcard have creases, corner bumps, scratches, ink on the front etc.
