Description: This is a FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING hardcover, with dust jacket, of Ernest Hemingway’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Old Man and the Sea. The book has the requisite “A” and Scribner’s Seal/colophon on the copyright page, as well as the original $3.00 price on the dust jacket flap. The book is in very good condition but for a prior owners name and date on the front free endpaper, some light wear to the silver lettering on the spine, a couple of tiny spots to the boards, bumping and wear to the spine ends and corners, some toning to the endpapers and light and even toning, if any, to the interior pages (with the exception of pages 64-65, which have slightly more toning as a result of what appears to have been a piece of paper placed in between those pages), a tiny spot at the edge of pages 104-105, a few previously paper clipped pages with light rust ghosting where the clips were placed (pages 114-117 and rear free endpapers), a tiny 1/4” tear to bottom of page 125, and a small bit of soiling to the rear endpaper. Please see photographs as to condition. The dust jacket—which is NOT price-clipped—also is in very good condition but for some chips, tears, surface cracks, toning, and light soiling and a faint rusty paper clip mark to the back flap. Please see photographs as to condition. The jacket retains its deep, vibrant color. The dust jacket is now enclosed in a removable archival mylar jacket protector. This collectible first edition is not price-clipped, not ex-library, not remaindered, and not a book club edition. It will be shipped bubble wrapped in a box, with signature required upon receipt.
