Description: Epiphone Casino John Lennon USA Edition "1965" Sunburst. This is number 1,556 of the limited combined production of 1,965 Lennon style replicas made between 1998 and 2001. I purchased this rare beauty brand new from Musician's Friend in early 2001. It has spent most of its life in its custom case with the Lennon stencil which came with the guitar. The guitar was made to the original specifications of John's 1965 Casino. Weighs in at a super light 6 pounds, 0.7 ounces. Case candy includes the Certificate of Authenticity in its original envelope, the custom Lennon pick, and the Epiphone Imagine marketing pamphlet. The guitar for sale is in excellent condition except for two very tiny finish chips on the headstock; please see last two photos with red circles. Other than that everything else is in great shape with respect to aesthetics, function, and playability. I used the guitar sparingly in my home studio; it has never been gigged out. Tons of fret life remaining. A little historical background. In 1966 during the recording of the Revolver album, John and George each acquired sunburst Casinos. From that point on, John chose the Casino as his main electric guitar for recordings, live performances, TV appearances, and films. In 1997, a team from Epiphone visited The Dakota apartment building in New York City to closely examine, measure, and document John's personal Casino with the cooperation of Yoko Ono. The result was the issuance of two Limited Edition John Lennon Casinos: The "natural" Revolution Casino and the "1965" original spec sunburst model. The"1965" model--the one for sale here--is a reproduction of the guitar as John originally purchased it, with the sunburst finish and stock hardware, including the famed P-90 "dog-eared" pickups (which, while they are about the same size as standard humbuckers, are actually single coil designs). The guitar is even stamped with Lennon's original serial number 328393. This instrument is in the exact body shape of the original using mid-1960s Kalamazoo tooling specs. The body is five alternating layers of maple and birch, while the one piece mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard includes the classic pearloid, parallelogram fret markers. Here's your chance to own a little piece of Lennon, Beatles, and Rock 'n' Roll history.
