Description: Set of vintage red (some call it pink!) transferware cups and saucers in a pattern called "Colonial." Some pieces have the mark for Enoch Wood & Sons and some have a mark I have never seen before: "Yorke Ironstone Old Staffordshire England." My guess is that this company Yorke bought out Wood & Sons, which was an older company, sometime in the mid-20th century, and reintroduced the pattern. The patterns are almost identical except for slight differences so they look like they are all a set. "Colonial" features pretty, typical British or American landscape scenes with a floral border, which is often the case for this type of vintage transferware. There are 4 cups and 7 saucers so you have some extra on hand. The cups measure 2 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter and have an interesting shaped handle. The landscape scene is on the outside and the floral border is on the inside. They have the incised mark on the bottom "Wood's England." The saucers measure 5 1/2" in diameter and 6 of them have the printed Yorke mark while the 7th has the Woods Burslem England mark (see photos for comparison). All the pieces are in very good condition with no chips are cracks. Some of the cups have some crazing as shown in the photos. If you like British red transferware, you will love this pattern, which would mix and match well with other vintage patterns. Please see my other listings with other pieces of Colonial I have available.
