Description: Engineering News and the American Railway Journal. Two volumes, XIX and XX, respectively published for January-June and July-December, 1888. Printed in New York City by the Engineering News Publishing Company. 1888, 548 and 518 pp, 13.75 x 10.5”, 3/4 leather binding. In as-is condition, with all four boards detached. Wear to boards, primarily along the edges and corners. Bookplates on pastedowns of two boards. Loss of binding on spine. Text blocks are complete, but some sections are loose and some assorted pages are detached, including the first few pages of Volume XIX. General age-related toning to pages. Slight marginalia throughout. Filled with dozens of illustrations, including two foldout color maps in good condition. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to bidding. An interesting and scarce set, highlighting American railway news, progress, and technological advancements during 1888. Despite the wear, this set would be an excellent candidate for rebinding and restoration. FORN-ABE-MSB-1221-Shelf-635-aj1084
