Edge guard and paddle do show some signs of use. There is a small rattle noise, it's due to a resin particle that can come loose during play and gets trapped inside one of the honeycomb cells. Playability of the paddle is still perfectly fine, you actually only hear the rattle noise if you shake the paddle back and forth very quickly, you don't hear it while playing.
