Description: All six volumes of Encylopedia Edinensis or Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Lliterature Including All The Modern Improvements to the Present Time and Illustrated with Upwards of 180 Engravings. Published in 1827 in Edinburgh by John Anderson. Illustrated with some splendid engravings. The covers are in very poor condition so this set is being sold FOR REPAIR. All the front boards are detached and some of the rear boards. The leather to the spines has disintegrated somewhat. However the majority of the pages are still secure except for Vol 1 - the pages up to page 8 of the preface are attached to the front board which is detached from the volume. Rear free endpaper is detached. Vol 2 the front endpaper and half title page are attached to the front board but this is detached from the volumeVol 4 - The half title page is torn in half and detachedVol 6 - the endpaper is still attached to the front board but this is detached from the volume. The halt title page is loose. The boards are very worn with considerable wear to the corners and some areas where the covering has been lost. There is Some foxing and discolouration to some pages. In particular there is discolouration to pages which face the engravings. Each volume has over 700 pages. Restored these could be a great set. Heavy. Each volume weighs over 2kg.
