Description: A fossil tooth & jaw fragment from Enchodus libycus in matrix with various accompanying fish bone fragments. Often known as the 'Sabre-Toothed Herring', Enchodus actually appears to be more closely related to modern-day Salmon. From Khourigba province, Morocco. An interesting fossil from a long extinct prehistoric fish that lived between the Late Cretaceous and Eocene periods. This fossil is therefore between 50-100 million years old. The tooth has a length of approx. 1.25" (31mm) and the overall maximum dimensions of the matrix are approx. 4.8" x 3.7" x 1.3" (122mm x 94mm x 34mm). Weighs 352g.A great fossil that would make an excellent addition to a collection, a superb display piece, or a fascinating conversation piece.
