Description: Emporia, KS Cabinet Card happy couple ID Elmer & Lizzie Little, by F.A. Trader Elmer and Lizzie both look like they're sharing a secret smile. I love their clothing and the backdrop they've chosen. Frederick Alonzo Trader (1846-1922) is listed in the census as a photographer as early as 1870. He worked in Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. He opened his studio in Emporia, KS in October 1886. Lovely shot, in clear focus. Yellowing to image. Soiling to image and card. Light foxing (brown spotting) to image. Card measures about 6.5 x 4.125 inches, and image is about 5.5 x 4 inches. Below the image, in gilded ink is: "TraderPhotographer." On reverse is printed:"From the Photographic Studio of F.A. Trader" Handwritten in pencil is "Elmer Little and wife, Lizzie." My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
