Shipping is FREE to the lower 48 States via the United States Postal Service. LET'S SEE WHAT IS IN THE KIT!!!! Total Kit Dimensions (Packed) in Container: 1 5/16" Wide x 3 1/8" Long x 3/8"+ Thick. (1) Metal Container, Rectangular, Sliding "Click" closure Lid: Durable metal container in a brushed aluminum finish. Pressed unit with rolled edges...no sharp edges and a "bathtub" base. Rolled metal lips on the base and lid that engage cleanly and "snap" closed. All of the items listed below fit securely into this tin. I have also used this metal tin as a container to make char-cloth as well...just add some small denim squares and place over the hot coals of an existing fire and "bake" the cloth into small char-cloths that will easily catch a spark to create the next fire. This takes some practice but is a great way to smart a fire with only a spark source. (1) 3/16" x 7" Electrical Tape: This thin band of electrical tape is wrapped around the plastic container to MAKE SURE that the case doesn't open unless you want it to. The case...with it's contents...all fit perfectly inside. The lid won't pop open on its' own....but the tape adds some security against accidental opening. Also...the tape can come in handy for field repair and bushcraft. The tape also makes your kit more resistant to water infiltration. (8) Tinder Quick (Spark-Lite) Fire Starting Tabs: These little "old reliables" are probably the best dry tinder tabs on the market today. The key to using this type of tab is to really fluff it up into fine strands and threads. It will catch a spark and light even under damp or wet conditions. Long burn time for it's size and they can be cut into pieces or pulled apart in order to stretch the volume of available tinder. (1) Magnesium & Tinder Tool - A PENCIL SHARPENER: What a versatile little tool! This small, all metal pencil sharpener is the PERFECT tool for creating small and dry tinder for your firelay! Just find a few dry sticks about the diameter of a pencil (EASY) and you can create a large pile of dry wood shavings in seconds! This German made tool, with an extremely sharp blade and precise assembly will create VERY thin/fine material that will act as the perfect medium to transfer a lit ember nest into a larger fire. BONUS: The body of this tool is made of Magnesium! Well...that's helpful!!! The body of the tool can be scraped or shaved with a knife or other sharp object to create shavings and dust that will IMMDEDIATELY ignite with a small spark even under harsh and wet environmental conditions. A Magnesium fire starter AND a tinder maker in ONE TOOL! Perfect! (1) Spark-Lite Fire Starter, Olive Drab, Plastic Body, ORIGNIAL and GENUNINE ISSUE: This is the EXACT same sparker that is included in the brand name and US Military Issue Fire Starting Kit. This is the same sparking tool that comes in the little green plastic cases that have LESS tinder tabs than MY kit does...and MY kit has a metal case and the added bonus of a tinder making tool made of solid Magnesium. (1) Alcohol Prep Pad, Firestarter: Alcohol Prep pads make fantastic little 'candles' for stubborn fires. To use, make a small "X" slit in the packet and pull up a little tuft of the prep pad like a Kleenex would poke from the box. Hit it with a few sparks and it will burn beautifully for several minutes allowing you time to get a tricky fire started more easily.
