Description: This 1895 Elgin pocket watch is a beautiful vintage piece crafted from 14K yellow gold with two tone color gold accents. The watch features a full double hunter closure and 15 jewels, numbers and white enamaled glass or crystal dial. It also has a multi-dial function with a seconds hand and a 12-hour dial, all powered by a mechanical (manual) movement that has been overwound I assume because it doesn't work and is fully wound. Early piece, One of the first made by Elgin for 129's. Dated 1895 exactly the 100th made in the 129 Os series. Movement # 5960101. 14 k assay. Case and face are in excellent condition with No dings cracks or chips. Minor scratches on the case but otherwise a beautiful piece. Looks to have possibly the political civil war Monitor and Merrimac engraved on it. Very hard to make out though. Definitely has a building or boat in water or the ocean. Very hard to tell what the scene is. Fancy dial with everything in excellent condition. The watch is easy to read, with large numerals and crystal display. It comes with a snap case back and is a perfect watch for a formal or dress occasion. The pocket watch is a model 1, manufactured between 1890-1899 in the United States. This item does not come with papers, service records, original box/packaging, or manuals/booklets. Rarity Rating 39.14 which makes this piece One of the first ones made. Really a must have for any Elgin pocket watch collector. Watch weighs 32.4 grams of 14 kt solid gold.
