Author Biography SUSAN SONTAG (1933-2004) inició su carrera literaria en 1963, con la publicación de la novela El benefactor, pero fue a partir del reconocimiento internacional de sus ensayos reunidos en Contra la interpretación cuando se consolidó como una de las principales figuras de los movimientos intelectuales de los años sesenta. Desde entonces su prestigio no ha hecho más que aumentar, tanto por sus obras como por su implicación en la denuncia de los grandes problemas sociales y políticos contemporáneos. En 2000, su novela En América fue galardonada con el National Book Award. En 2001 recibió el Premio Jerusalén por el conjunto de su obra, y en 2003 el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras y el Premio de la Paz, concedido por los libreros alemanes.
