Description: This is your chance to own a complete graphic adaptation of a classic Edgar Allan Poe story! The April 1975 issue of Creepy magazine (the horror anthology magazine published by Warren Publishing, the original publishers of Vampirella) was a special issue dedicated to adapting some of the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. This included stories with art by Richard Corben, Jose Ortiz, Isidro Mones etc. This is the complete original art for one of those stories, the entire sea-tossed tale "A Descent Into The Maelstrom!". This classic Poe tale was adapted by Rich Margopoulos, with art by Spanish artist Adolfo Usero, one of the S.I. artists (including Esteban Maroto, Jose Gonzalez, etc) that revolutionized Warren's Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella magazines in the 1970s. The art was created in ink and ink wash over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 15". The caption boxes have a Rubylith acetate overlay for shading. Don't content yourself with the usual humdrum isolated original art page from a story, this is a rare opportunity to obtain the original art for a complete story at a very reasonable price! The ultimate Halloween present! Note: The cover of Creepy #70 is provided for context. This sale does not include a copy of that magazine.
