Description: In 1824 Benjamin Maund started the publication of a new periodical "The Botanic Garden". Here, we have 2 of the original hand colored copper engravings with the accompanying botanic descriptions. These were the work of Edward Dalton Smith (1800-1866) and engraved by S. Watts as printed at the bottoms. Each page measures 8 1/2" X 6 1/2". The flowers include Dahlia, Oval-Leafed Penstemon, Purple Martagon, Saw-Leafted Evening Primrose, Elegant Madia, Richardson's Pentstemon, Branching Larkspur and Blush Centaury. We believe these are in excellent antique condition. The prints are clean, clear, bright and bold. Some of the description pages have toning. As I am not an expert on art, please view my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with many of his treasures. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping when possible.
