Description: Here an interesting vintage centerpiece or serving bowl which I believe was made by the Tiffin Glass Company a/k/a Factory 'R' of the U.S. Glass Company located in Tiffin, Ohio. I'm pretty sure I've seen this blank identified as Tiffin in one of my reference books (just can't find it right now). I'm guessing it dates from maybe around 1925 into the 1930's (originally there was a little piece of paper in it that said 'old - belonged to Grandma Levick', or some such..I threw it away). Always find it a little sad, when I go to estate sales, that noone cares about Grandma Levick any more, but then again, there might not be anybody left around who even knew her. In any event, the bowl is about 5-3/8" tall at the edge. It's about 8-3/4" across the top, and the foot's about 4-1/4" across. It's black glass, I suppose you'd call it 'satinized'. It's in good shape with no chips or cracks, but there are some wear spots (or something) inside the bowl where it seems like the 'satinizing' has worn off to whatever it's like underneath (you can kind of see it in the pics). Anyway, it's a cool little vintage bowl, about 100 years old, more or less; I can't resist stuff like this when I see it, but have too much of it, so it needs a new home.
