Description: Wallace Reid was a silent movie star by 1910, appearing in close to 100 hundred films before his early death, by drug overdose, in 1923. After his death, his widow, actress Dorothy Davenport, produced a movie about drug addiction and travelled with it throughout the country. During his 15 year career in Hollywood, Reid was a handsome action star, doing his own stunts, and earning the moniker, "the most perfect lover." He was injured in a train wreck, requiring stitches to his head, and put on morphine for the pain. His addiction began there. This tin is in incredibly good shape considering it is 100 years old and was used as evidenced by the many scratches on the bottom interior. The painting, by Australian-American illustrator, Henry Clive, is sharp and the colors are vibrant. If you are a collector of old Hollywood, candy tins or Americana, this tin box will fit right in and make your other pieces swoon.
