Description: Offered for your consideration is a clear glass water pitcher made by the Beatty-Brady Glass Company (1898-1899) in their "Dewey" pattern. Sometimes referred to as "Admiral Dewey", this pattern was introduced circa 1898. This is one of two similar pitchers and displays images of Admiral Dewey in an oval leaf frame on one side and a depiction of the warship "Olympia" on the opposite side, a cannonball band around the bottom of the pitcher, and other patriotic symbols. The details on this pitcher are rather weak. The other similar pitcher depicts an image of Admiral Gridley and has been reproduced; the Dewey pitcher has not been reproduced. The Dewey pitcher measures over 9 inches (22.9 cm) tall, 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, and 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) from end of spout to outer edge of handle. This pitcher is in very good used condition with no cracks, noticeable scratches, nor repairs. There are underfills/voids and heat check fractures along rim, a small chip at rim, and small flat chips and wear on base. See photos. Pitcher is used so there may be very faint surface scratches or other indications of use. There is no cloudiness, discoloration, nor lime scale present. There may be bubbles within the glass, a shear (straw) mark, and other minor imperfections from the manufacturing process used at the time. Pitcher will be shipped from a smoke-free home and will be packed securely for shipping. Good luck and thank you for your interest.
