"Stay Awhile - I Only Want to Be with You / Dusty" combines her first two U.S. released albums, all songs remastered. Misspelling in liner notes: the guy is called Bas Hartong This double album is unique among Dusty Springfield reissues. Her early-1960s catalog is strange because her U.S. "albums," including the two combined on this release, were a mix of tracks from the original U.K. albums plus tracks from singles, b-sides and EPs. Many tracks from that era were either never mixed to stereo or the stereo masters have been lost. For her U.K. albums (especially debut "A Girl Called Dusty" and follow-up "Ev'rything's Coming Up Dusty"), most reissues from 1997-on include stereo "remixes" by Roger Wake & Mike Gill that combine alternate vocal and/or instrumental takes into new stereo versions of the songs that differ, sometimes significantly, from the original mono or stereo versions. This compilation is also full of 1990s remixes, but they are all by U.S.-based Eliot Goshman rather than U.K.-based Wake & Gill. Goshman's technique was generally to take the mono vocal from the original version and combine it with stereo masters of alternate takes. Wake & Gill generally used both the vocals and the backing tracks from the alternate takes to construct their stereo versions. The end result: Almost all of the remixes here are unique to this comp and unavailable elsewhere. Some differ subtly from the Wake/Gill mixes, while other differ radically. Tracks 1-6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14-16 and 22-24 are all Goshman remixes. Tracks 7, 9, 12, 17-19 and 21 are all remastered versions of the original stereo mixes.
