Dune (1984) Sardaukar general's knife - metal core, precise replica of original

Description: This is the Sardaukar general’s knife as seen in the 1984 David Lynch film classic Dune. The Sardaukar officers were charged with the direct protection of the emperor. It is an exact handmade replica based off the only known original, which went to public auction nearly 40 years after the movie’s release. This dagger is a precise match in length, width and shape, but is much heavier than the original, which was made only out of resin. This one has a metal core inside the resin, distributed along the length of the handle and hilt part of the blade. What this means is that this is considerably heavier than the original prop, with a weight equivalent to what the real dagger would have if it existed in real life. It will have the right swing and feel in your hand with handling, but is nevertheless compliant with ComicCon and convention rules that forbid metal edged weapons. The body and blade are weathered and aged, using the same bluing, onyx and gunmetal shades and patterns selected by the propmasters for the original 1984 film. It is finished in a buffed, rock-hard museum wax which gives it patina and tack in your hands. It is fully waterproof. By way of background, I designed my first prop for television more than 30 years ago. I design props to this day simply to pay homage to great films of the past, and to keep my skills sharp.
