Description: Offered is a cast, probably zinc sword hilt, with the three components fitting snugly together so as not to wobble, rattle, or shift in use. The haft is about 4 1/2" long, filling the hand nicely and allowing room for a two-handed grip if for whatever reason that should be called for. This will accept a blade 1 3/16" x 3/16" at its base, with a flat tang slot of 5/8" x 3/16". The heavy-walled but basically hollow haft will allow a solid flat tang all the way to the pommel, which is the strongest way of constructing a sword. Someone did a cross-threaded job of attaching the pommel to the original threaded rod tang, leaving the threads so buggered that I had to just ream the hole out to just under 5/16". If a rat-tail tang is necessary, I'd weld an unthreaded 1/4" rod to the end of the flat tang, notch the pommel end in a couple places, fill the pommel socket with epoxy, and after verifying everything straight, true, and tight, clamp it together overnight, which will make it about impossible to ever come apart. I'm not sure what the bestial theme is we have going on this piece. The main, central head, which will be swallowing the blade on the completed sword, appears to be either a dragon or some form of demonic wolf, while the ends of the guard are cast into some sort of raptor (the bird kind, an eagle or hawk) head.
