Its original duty involved guarding Hitler's East Prussian Wolfsschanze Headquarters. The brigade additionally fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts and surrendered to U.S. forces in Austria in 1945. The 4th Kompanie of 101 Pz.Rgt. contained 11 Jagdpanthers that were armed with the 88 mm Pak 43. Campaign - East Prussia, December 1944 -In 1944, the battalion was reorganized as an armored brigade at Fallingbostel. Personnel came from Grossdeutschland and in October 1944, it was assigned to XXVII Korps of the Fourth Army and sent to the Gumbinnen area. It fought at Daken and Grosswaltersdorf from Oct 21-23 and operated in tandem with 5th Panzer Division and the Hermann Goring Division. The unit was assigned to participate in Operation Herbstnebel "Operation Autumn Mist" under Marshal Model and Army Group B. However, Hitler went with the Wacht am Rhein plan which was also launched in the Ardennes but went west/northwest instead of north (Herbstnebel). Markings - Gray, and whitish yellow camouflage and German cross on turret Model - Jagdpanther Early Production - Sd.Kfz.173 - the Jagdpanther "Hunting Panther" was a heavy tank destroyer preceded by the Ferdinand and Nashorn models which proved to be ineffective (too heavy or too small). The Jagdpanther used the 88 mm Pak 43 gun and the Panther tank chassis and was first demonstrated in October 1943. Production began in January 1944 and around 415 were produced after January 1944. They mainly served on the Eastern Front in heavy anti-tank battalions but appeared in the West in small numbers at Normandy with the 654th Heavy Antitank Battalion. Later they were concentrated in the West for the Ardennes Offensive. Condition - new with minor wear on box Thank you for your interest.
