Sometimes manufacturers made DLH bulbs with a blue top, while other times they made DLH bulbs with a black top or even gold top. The opacity is the point for the projector/application. Coloring of the top makes no difference to the performance, at all. That being said, I have this bulb in various brands -- feel free to ask about them! Some of the little outer boxes got damaged.
