Description: When someone wrote to Disney Studios expressing interest in a specific film or character, the standard response was a form letter and a pre-printed "Fan" card depicting the film or character. During the 1930's, these cards were black line drawings printed on index-type card stock. Ink and Paint trainees hand-colored some of these fan cards, so colored versions of every 8" x 10" card are known. Beginning with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", fan cards were printed in color, except for "Bambi" which was printed in sepia-tone ink. There were three different cards for "Snow White". One is from the 1944 re-release. The larger size 8" x 10" fan cards are known up through "Zorro" in 1957. The 1959 "Sleeping Beauty" card is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" postcard, a format that was adapted around that time. If a film was black and white, such as "The Absent- Minded Professor", so was the card. A series of smaller-size fan-card-looking pictures was done as a set in the late 1970's. SIZE: 7 1/4" x 9 1/4"CONDITION:Yellowing, some age spotting along top, no tears. Printed colors.
