Description: This is a beautiful watercolor painting by Disney artist Art Riley (1911-1998). Art Riley was born in Boston Massachusetts and died in Monterey California. He worked for almost 30 years for Walt Disney, creating background watercolors for some of the most successful animated films made by that studio. He was also a member of the California Water Color Society and the American Water Color Society. Art Riley was best known for his contributions to Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, and Cinderella. Other work includes; The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, 16 episodes of The Magical World of Disney, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Donald Duck Visits Lake Titicaca, Bambi (backgrounds), Fantasia, Pinocchio, Jungle Cat, The African Lion, and Davey Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier, and many more classics. This watercolor was purchased from the estate of Joseph Nordmann, another impressive artist in the Monterey area where Art Riley had moved. These artists often exchanged paintings with each other, and this painting had been proudly displayed in the Nordmann home in Pacific Grove, California (see his website www.josephnordmann.com).
