The 100S (R&R / River Rescue pattern) is a line of knives Benchmade arguably should never have stopped making. Ostensibly intended for maritime use, the 100SH2O is not your average dive knife. The Elishewitz Nimravus heritage is obvious in aspects of it's design and it compares favorably with the discontinued Nim Cub: as a highly capable, well designed, well made, compact knife that fills the niche between a heavy duty folder and larger, heavier fixed blades. There is nothing in it's design or construction that will limit the 100SH20 to maritime use. The real loss is in that there really isn't anything currently in Benchmade's line that fills this very interesting niche. The 100 series are astoundingly good as a general purpose knife. This is the sort of knife there should be more of but sadly aren't. The 100SH20 is the production version of the Elishewitz designed 100S R&R River/Rescue knife.
