Marie Jacques Philippe Mouton-Fontenille de La Clotte is a French naturalist and botanist, born on September 8, 1769 in Montpellier and died on August 22, 1837 in Lyon. The Author studied at Montpellier with Gouan Antoine (1733-1821). He became professor of natural history at the Academy of Lyon and curator of the museum of the city until his death. He published an adaptation of Carl von Linné's Classes plantarum in 1798 followed in 1805 by the first French translation of the Plant System of the same Linnaeus. Member of the Lyon Academy (from 1800 to 1837), he headed the Museum of Natural History of Lyon from 1816 to 1830. A handsome copy of a scarce book.
