Description: Deeper Than the Dead: A Novel by Tami Hoag (2010) Editorial Reviews Book Description: The first mystery in the Oak Knoll series starring FBI Profiler Vince Leone, from Sunday Times bestselling author Tami Hoag. Three dead women; three children each with their families under suspicion; a community packed with secrets. And one serial killer. On the damp, leaf-strewn ground a gruesome trophy is displayed. It's a young woman. Although her battered body has been buried, her head is propped on a stone like an offering, her mouth and eyes glued shut, her eardrums destroyed. This killer has struck this peaceful town before - and the savagery he inflicts on his victims is increasing. Vince Leone, a pioneering FBI profiler, is called in to try to unlock the mind of the killer - a strategy that pulls him deep into the devastated community. Suspicions thicken, secrets spill out and reputations shatter as Vince draws ever nearer to evil . . .Watch out for the next title in the Oak Knoll FBI Profiler thriller series SECRETS TO THE GRAVE. Review Amazing book and characters !!! On chapter 42, and this book hasn't slowed down at all! Very well written, exciting characters, creepy serial killer, enough morbidity to satisfy readers, and great detective characters. I love vince, the fbi agent. He's fleshed out and has a great personality for this book. Lovely to see that in a cop character for once. I can't stop reading this book!!! Oh and did I mention that there is a nice romantic current to this book? It's not overly sexual, but a cute romance with sincere feelings. Very refreshing. Update: lots of twists and turns in this one! Graphic scenes but everything was supporting to the plot and necessary. Loved the characters to the end. Great ending. And I mean with all the suspense and wrap up that this book needed. It was perfect, and I don't say that lightly. This is my first novel from Hoag and I'm impressed. Will be buying the other books in the series next. This book is so worth it. Great serial killer, sub plots, and side characters. Believable, realistic dialogue. Perfect balance between horrible murders and happy times. No boring parts in the whole thing. I genuinely loved this book and will be adding to my favorites collection.
