Description: Terrific Pair of Miniature Canvasbacks by Harry Jobes (1936 – 2019), Havre de Grace / Aberdeen, Maryland, circa 1996. Harry was one of the most widely known carvers of the Upper Chesapeake Bay and has an honored place in the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum. Moreover, having worked as a young man with noted Madison Mitchell, Harry’s influence on the Upper Bay Tradition through his sons, also distinguished carvers. I obtained this pair of miniature directly from Harry when we did decoy shows together in the 1990s and early 2000s. This Pair of Miniature displays Excellent Original Paint and Detail. They measure 6” in length, 2 ¼” in width and 2 ½” in height. They are Signed & Dated on the Bottom: Capt. Harry Jobes / 1996. We all called him “Captain Harry”.
