Nathan Thomas Davis was born in December 1851 in Eel River, Hendricks Co., Indiana, youngest son of Jesse Davis (1806- 1895) and Minerva Zimmerman (1818 - 1877). Nathan's siblings include: Mary C. Davis (1837 - ), William Davis (1838 - ), Nancy Davis Hunt (1840 - 1923), Martha J. Davis Hedge (1843 - 1926), Abigail Davis Smith (1849 - ).On the 22nd of May 1873, he married Sarah Emmons, born 1 January 1855 in North Salem, Hendricks Co., Indiana, daughter of James Morton Emmons (1828 - 1917) and Elizabeth Jane Trotter (1832 - 1912). They moved to Denver, Colorado. Nathan's obituary is interesting. The Mound City Republic (Mound City, Kansas), dated Friday, 15 December 1916 reported: "Died at Cemetery Gate. Denver, Dec. 12 - Nathan Thomas Davis, 65, a motorman, died at his post recently as he brought his car to a stop at the entrance of a cemetery. He was to have been retired on a pension." Nathan died 11 December 1916 in Denver and in interred in Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Jefferson Co., Colorado. Sarah then moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to be near her daughters, where she died 1 August 1935. She rests beside Nathan.Nathan and Sarah's children include: Vernor James Davis (1875 - 1923), Cora Ethel Davis Pickett (1877 - 1969), Mary Elizabeth Davis Shirley (1892 - 1973). Nathan's photo measures 4.25 x 6.5 inches and came from the E. C. Dooley photography studio in North Salem, Hendricks Co., Indiana. Card is in fair condition for its age, the upper left corner is soft and missing the edge. As to be expected with a photo over 120 years old, it isn't perfect. There are spots, scuffs and aging.
